Tesla New Charging Stations Welcoming the Next Wave of EVs

Overview:

A major transformation in the EV industry is designing the charging port, a key factor at the time of choosing which of the electric vehicles to buy. Various EV brands agreed to shift to Tesla’s charging stations. The brands include Ford, General Motors, Rivian, Volvo, Nissan, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Genesis, and additionally BMW, Mini, and Rolls-Royce also get added.

The diesel or gas-powered vehicles can be easily pulled up at any fuel pump and fill their tanks without any worry. This is not true for the Electric Vehicle Drivers. The reason behind this is the EVs presently have any of these charging ports such as Combined Charging System (CCS), and Tesla’s proprietary North American Charging Stations (NACS).

Competing Fast Charging Network Technologies

The two types of charging port CCS -type charging and NACS Charging arrangement are the main technologies for connecting high voltage with EVs. Tesla’s charging system has 20,000 charging ports for all the users in the USA. It offers fast charging capabilities and approximately twice the standard charging station. The Tesla charging stations are reliable and easy to use in comparison with the standard charging.

List of EVs with Tesla’s Supercharging Access

Here is the list of EVs currently acknowledged to switch to Tesla Supercharging access. These are as follows:

1. BMW

At the beginning of 2025, the BMW brand announced the agreement to switch on Tesla’s charging port stations. The agreement further extended to BMWs, Mini, and Rolls-Royce. The currently available EVs have a CCS-type port which will also be compatible with the Tesla Charging System with the support of an adopter. With the high-tech implementation, BMW is working on the integration of payment methods for charging as well as providing a solution to provide direction to Tesla chargers through the navigation system.

2. Ford

The owner of the Ford Electric Vehicles will have access to Tesla’s Supercharging network system at the start of 2024. The models such as Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach E have CCS-type charging ports but similar to BMW, it supports fast charging with the help of an adapter. Also, Ford claims that the upcoming EVs will have standard NACS charging arrangements.

3. Genesis

Genesis Motor North America recently in the first week of October 2023 announced the collaboration with Tesla’s Supercharging network. The brand announced the adoption of NACS port in all the future EVs which will launch soon. The CCS port will be able to use an adapter to charge their EVs on the supercharging network arrangement for the Tesla. The upcoming EVs will have an NACS charging arrangement, and the Genesis EVs will offer adapters to charge the EVs with the CCS equipment.

4. Honda

Honda ranks in the list of brands that have agreed to collaborate with Teslas for the supercharging arrangement. Similar to the rest of the brands, Honda also claims that all the upcoming EVs will have an NACS charging network port for easy charging through Tesla stations. Along with that, it will provide a CCS port adapter to establish compatibility with the Tesla charging stations for the previous models.

5. Hyundai

In October, Hyundai announced its collaboration with Tesla’s charging station for fast charging for its upcoming vehicles. Along with that, it also provides an adapter for its existing vehicles to get charged at Tesla’s supercharging station. All the upcoming electric vehicles will have a NACS port which will be compatible with Tesla’s charging station.

Conclusion

Tesla has announced the installation of NACS ports to make Tesla’s supercharging station for all the Tesla models and non- Tesla vehicles. All the brands announced that the upcoming vehicles will have NACS ports for compatible charging through Tesla’s station and the previous models, the adapter connection system is there to connect with the CCS port. Almost all the brands confirmed their charging through Tesla’s station.

FAQs:

1. Why is Tesla opening its charging stations for other brands?

Tesla has claimed to open 7,500 charging stations for non-Tesla vehicles by the end of 2024. Also, based on several studies that predict that charging could become a good source of income, Tesla gets benefits from other brands when it pays for charging through Tesla’s station.

2. Which Non-Tesla EVs Can Charge at Tesla Superchargers?

Here is the list of brands that can get charged at Tesla Supercharging stations which includes: BMW, Mini, Rolls-Royce, Fords, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Genesis, Jaguar, Kia, Nissan, and Mercedes Benz.

3. How Much Will It Cost to Charge a Non-Tesla at a Supercharger?

The overall cost to charge a non-Tesla at a Supercharger will depend on the price of the adapter and the time of the charging. Although the charger is not yet available in the market, it is still $175 for an adapter that allows Tesla to charge at the CCS station.
